68天，《傲慢與偏見》里的簡愛屋及烏贊美賓利姐妹！

這是第68天閱讀英文版《傲慢與偏見》。
簡對妹妹伊麗莎白說：
“I know you do; and it is that which makes the wonder. With your good sense, to be so honestly blind to the follies and nonsense of others! Affectation of candour is common enough; — one meets it every where. But to be candid without ostentation or design — to take the good of everybody’s character and make it still better, and say nothing of the bad — belongs to you alone. And so, you like this man’s sisters too, do you? Their manners are not equal to his.”
“我知道你是這樣的，會讓人覺得奇妙。你很聰明，你對別人的荒唐和愚蠢視而不見。偽裝的真誠很普遍，到處會遇到一個。但是你的真誠沒炫耀也沒目的，覺得每個人的性格都是好的，不說任何人的不好，只有你是這樣的。你也喜愛這個男人的姐妹嗎？她們的修養不等于是他的。”
上述是我把這段文字轉化的中文，不是很準確，但是大意是對的。

這段文字實際上我瀏覽一遍，是看不明白說的啥，主要是有一大些的生詞是攔路虎，我還是老老實實先查閱詞匯注釋：
1. wonder
詞性：名詞
含義：驚奇；詫異
用法：“makes the wonder”，“令人感到驚奇”。
2. blind
詞性：形容詞
含義：視而不見的；盲目的
用法：“honestly blind to”，“真誠地對……視而不見”。
3. follies
詞性：名詞（復數）
含義：愚蠢的行為；荒唐事
用法：與“nonsense”并列。
4. nonsense
詞性：名詞
含義：荒謬的言行；胡言亂語
用法：描述不合理行為。
5. affectation
詞性：名詞
含義：假裝；做作
用法：“Affection of candour”，“偽裝的坦誠”。
6. candour
詞性：名詞
含義：坦誠；直率
用法：與“affectation”對比。
7. candid
詞性：形容詞
含義：坦誠的；直率的
用法：“be candid without ostentation”，“不炫耀的坦誠”。
8. ostentation
詞性：名詞
含義：炫耀；賣弄
用法：“without ostentation or design”，“不炫耀、無目的”。
我補充幾個例句，體會“ostentation”的用法：

總體來說，她生活儉樸，不事張揚。

notable 顯耀的

那座雕像有一種非虛飾的美。
Choose a life of action, not one of ostentation.
要選擇步履的平生，而不是夸耀的平生。

含義：意圖；謀劃
用法：坦誠并非出于功利目的
10. equal
詞性：形容詞
含義：相當的；平等的
用法：“not equal to his”，“比不上他的”。
這篇筆記我補充的例句較少，這樣是為了讀的輕快一點，以后每篇筆記挑選一個單詞補充例句，不然，例句太多，量大了反而嚼不爛。
有條件的時候，我每篇筆記還要在紙上拿筆寫寫，原始的學習方式應該是效果好的。

我把這段文字逐句拆解閱讀一遍：

I know you do：簡潔呼應前文。
makes the wonder：“讓人覺得奇妙”。
2. “With your good sense, to be so honestly blind to the follies and nonsense of others!”
good sense：明智；判斷力強
honestly blind：“真誠地視而不見”
blind 瞎的
follies and nonsense：愚蠢和荒唐
sense與nonsense，是反義詞

Affectation of candour：“偽裝的坦誠”
candour 坦率
“affectation”，偽裝；做作
common enough：“足夠常見”

take the good... make it still better：“放大優點”。
“say nothing of the bad”，對缺點只字不提。
belongs to you alone：“唯獨屬于你”。

Their manners are not equal to his：“她們的舉止不如他”。
“equal to”，比得上
讀英文版《傲慢與偏見》，有的段落讀起來還是覺得有點吃力，這說明自己的詞匯還是缺乏熟悉。
英文的發音也是盲人摸象，也不用參加啥英語考試了，我就出于一個執念，就是要讀英文版的《傲慢與偏見》，且每一段都要讀，每一段的每一句都要讀，每一段的閱讀都要寫一篇閱讀筆記。
一年讀一遍算一年，兩年讀完算兩年，三年讀完算三年，四年讀完算四年，我這是英文版《傲慢與偏見》閱讀專門學院。
