1月9日，澳網官方宣布，將今年澳網的最后一張外卡發給了瑞士老將瓦林卡，這也是他的最后一個賽季。
瓦林卡生涯一共19次參加澳網正賽，2014年，瓦林卡在8強戰中3-2力克德約科維奇，在半決賽淘汰伯蒂奇后，瓦林卡又在決賽中3-1（6-3、6-2、3-6、6-3）擊敗納達爾，奪得了自己生涯首座大滿貫冠軍。
