The Asian Economic Development Conference (AEDC) is an annual research conference organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), and an esteemed university cohost from Asia. The 4th AEDC will be cohosted by the ADB, ADBI, and Peking University (PKU) on 3–4 July 2025 at the PKU campus, Beijing.
The objectives of AEDC are to promote high-quality, frontline research on major economic development issues relevant to developing Asia and the Pacific and to foster knowledge sharing among social scientists, development practitioners, and policymakers. The conference features presentations of unpublished empirical analyses, survey articles, economic modelling, and policyoriented research on a range of topics in economics, such as the following:
? Agriculture and Rural Development: food security, productivity, and agricultural markets
? Health and Education: access to health care and education, aging, and demographic challenges
? Labor: skills, future of work, job security, job quality, and labor productivity
? Gender: gaps in income and opportunities, and gender empowerment
? Poverty, Inequality, and Welfare: income gaps, income shocks, role of social safety nets, MSMEs, intra-household dynamics, and social development
? Climate Change and Environment: climate change mitigation and adaptation, natural capital, sustainable development, net-zero transition, carbon pricing, energy transition, and natural disasters
? Macroeconomics and Finance: economic growth, capital market, sustainable finance, inflation, macro and financial stability, fiscal and monetary policy
? Regional Cooperation and Economic Integration: trade, economic and financial integration, global value chains, migration, capital flows, cross-border investment
? Infrastructure: energy, transport, water, urban development, and quality infrastructure
? Digital Economy and Innovation: digital transformation, closing digital divides,
technology and innovation, entrepreneurship, digital currencies and assets, data science, and big data
? Domestic Resource Mobilization and Governance: public finance, debt sustainability, public management, bureaucracy, corruption, and taxation.
