天津茱莉亞學(xué)院客座教師、大都會歌劇院管弦樂團巴松管首席威廉·肖特（William Short）將于3月初到訪天津茱莉亞學(xué)院，與研究生和預(yù)科學(xué)生進行一系列專業(yè)課和大師課教學(xué)，并于3月4日舉辦專場音樂會。

屆時，威廉·肖特將攜手天津茱莉亞教師和研究生，從跨越時空的音樂文獻中挖掘巴松管的多面性格：從文藝復(fù)興的圣歌余韻，到古典主義的優(yōu)雅歡愉，再到現(xiàn)代派的聲音實驗與深情挽歌。

開場是文藝復(fù)興時期作曲家若斯坎·德普雷的《經(jīng)文歌》，巴松管純凈如人聲般的音質(zhì)，將復(fù)調(diào)音樂綿密的線條娓娓道來；隨后，阿蘭·貝爾諾的《幻象》和杰夫·斯科特的《純真的挽歌》，為觀眾展示現(xiàn)當(dāng)代作品中巴松管的探索與反思；作為室內(nèi)樂文獻中的杰作，普朗克為雙簧管、巴松管與鋼琴而作的《三重奏》在樂器間俏皮機智的對話中，透出耐人尋味的憂郁與深邃；下半場，師生們將帶領(lǐng)觀眾回歸古典主義的優(yōu)雅與明媚，共同演繹莫扎特的經(jīng)典管樂作品《降E大調(diào)第11號小夜曲》。

威廉·肖特自2012年起擔(dān)任紐約大都會歌劇院管弦樂團巴松管首席。此前他曾任特拉華州交響樂團巴松管首席，并曾與休斯頓交響樂團、底特律交響樂團、費城交響樂團合作演出。作為獨奏家，他曾與佛蒙特交響樂團、特拉華州交響樂團、紐約古典演奏家樂團，以及弦樂音樂節(jié)管弦樂團同臺獻藝。他是哥譚木管五重奏的創(chuàng)始成員，曾多次參與Camerata Pacifica室內(nèi)樂團、Dolce Suono室內(nèi)樂團，以及大都會歌劇院管弦樂團室內(nèi)樂系列的演出。

威廉·肖特深耕音樂教育，目前任教于茱莉亞學(xué)院、曼哈頓音樂學(xué)院（同時擔(dān)任木管系主任），以及天普大學(xué)。此外，他還是天津茱莉亞學(xué)院客座教師，并曾在印第安納大學(xué)雅各布音樂學(xué)院和科羅拉多大學(xué)博爾德分校擔(dān)任客座教師。他的教學(xué)足跡遍布全球，曾在國際雙簧樂器學(xué)會年會上開設(shè)講座，并于2017至2021年間擔(dān)任該學(xué)會理事會成員。

William Short was appointed Principal Bassoon of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in 2012. He previously served in the same capacity with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the Houston and Detroit Symphonies and the Philadelphia Orchestra. William has performed as soloist with the Vermont and Delaware Symphonies, the New York Classical Players, and the Strings Festival Orchestra. He is a founding member of the Gotham Wind Quintet and has performed many times with the Camerata Pacifica, Dolce Suono, and Met Orchestra Chamber Ensemble chamber music series.

A dedicated teacher, William serves on the faculties of The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music (where he is also Chair of the Woodwind Department), and Temple University. In addition, he is a Visiting Faculty member at The Tianjin Juilliard School and has held visiting guest positions at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has presented classes around the world, including at conferences of the International Double Reed Society, for which he served as a board member from 2017-2021.

William has performed and taught at the Music Academy of the West and the Interlochen, Lake Champlain, Lake Tahoe, Brevard, Mostly Mozart, National Orchestral Institute, National Youth Orchestra, Stellenbosch (South Africa), Strings, and Verbier Festivals. An occasional arranger, editor, and composer, his work has been published by the Theodore Presser Company and TrevCo Music.

William received his Bachelor of Music from the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Daniel Matsukawa and Bernard Garfield, and his Master of Music at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, where he studied with Benjamin Kamins. As a student, he attended festivals including the Music Academy of the West, Pacific Music Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, and the Verbier Festival. Additional major teachers have included Jeanine Attaway, Kristin Wolfe Jensen, and William Lewis.

A Fox Artist, William plays on a Model 750, which he is proud to have helped develop.
