Every year, the website chooses a word or phrase that reflects “pivotalmoments in language and culture.”
Dictionary.com 每年都會評選出一個最能代表當年“語言與文化關鍵時刻”的詞或短語。
It’s no surprise “67” was selected as the viral phrase haspopped upall over TikTok. The slang was even the focus of a recent sketch on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” where the host and singer Charlie Puth repeated the phrase while pretending to be two live streamers.
“67” 的入選其實并不令人意外——這個網絡熱梗早已在 TikTok 上瘋狂刷屏。甚至連美國脫口秀節目《今夜秀》最近也以此為題,主持人吉米·法倫和歌手查理·普斯還模仿網絡主播,一邊直播一邊重復這句“67”,引發觀眾爆笑。

The origin of this most modern use of 67 is thought to be a song called “Doot Doot (6 7)” by Skrilla. (This is an opportune moment to mention that you may also see it written as 6 7, 6-7, or six-seven, but the most important thing is to never pronounce it as “sixty-seven.”)
“67”這個最新用法的起源,被認為來自嘻哈歌手Skrilla的一首歌——《Doot Doot (6 7)》。(這里要特別提醒一下,這個梗的寫法有很多種:6 7、6-7或six-seven都可以,但千萬別讀成“sixty-seven”)
It was quickly reinforced by viral TikToks featuring basketball players and a young boy who will forevermore be known as the “67 Kid.” Within weeks, teachers were trading tips online about how to get their students to stop saying 67 all day long.
隨后,這個梗很快被各種TikTok 爆款視頻推向了高潮——尤其是一些籃球運動員的視頻,還有一個男孩,因為反復喊“six seven”而成了網絡紅人,被稱為“67小孩(67 Kid)”。沒過幾周,連老師們都在網上互相交流經驗:“怎么才能讓學生別一天到晚喊‘67’啊?”

如果你要問67,到底是什么意思? Dictionary.com的官方解釋是這樣的:
What does 67 mean? Well…it’scomplicated. Some say it means “so-so,” or “maybe this, maybe that,” especially when paired with its signature hand gesture where both palms face up and move alternately up and down.
“67”到底是什么意思?嗯……這個問題有點復雜。有人說,它大概表示“就那樣吧”或者“差不多、隨便啦”的意思——尤其是配上它標志性的手勢動作:雙手掌心向上,交替上下擺動,看起來像是在說“就這樣”。
Some youngsters, sensing an opportunity to reliablyfrustratetheir elders, will use it to stand in for a reply to just about any question. (“Hello, darling child, how was school today?” “67!”)
還有一些年輕人,察覺到這可以“整蠱”大人,于是干脆把它當成萬能回答。比如:“寶貝,今天在學校過得怎么樣啊?”“67!”

這么無聊的梗,為什么會在外網火啊!我真是不理解......
不過看到社交媒體X(原來的Twitter)上也有網友吐槽看不懂,我就放心了:
