In America, many parents search for a unique name for their child. But sometimes, "unique" has veered into "unhinged " territory. And in some of those cases, the government has intervened.

While laws vary by state, according to US birth certificates.com, the following 11 names have been ruled illegal by the U.S. court system.

雖然各州的法律規定不盡相同，但據US Birth Certificates網站統計，以下 11 個名字已被美國司法體系裁定為不合法，不能用于登記出生證明。

• Queen（女王）

• Jesus Christ（耶穌·基督）

• III（羅馬數字“三世”）

• Santa Claus（圣誕老人）

• Majesty（陛下）

• Adolf Hitler（阿道夫·希特勒）

• Nutella（能多益，巧克力醬品牌）

• Messiah（彌賽亞，猶太人所期待的救世主）

• @（符號名）

• 1069（純數字名）

Some states restrict the number of characters in a name. In New York, first and middle names have a maximum length of 30 characters each, and last names cannot exceed 40 characters.

一些州對姓名的字符長度有明確限制。在紐約州，名字和中間名各最多30個字符，姓氏不能超過40個字符。

In Texas, first and middle names cannot exceed 100 characters. Massachusetts limits the first, middle and last name to a maximum of 40 characters each. Arizona has a total limit of 141 characters.

在德克薩斯州，名字和中間名最多可達100個字符。馬薩諸塞州規定，名字、中間名和姓氏每一項最多40個字符。亞利桑那州則對全名設定了總字符數上限為141個。

In Mississippi, a baby will automatically be given the father's last name unless the parents request a different name.

在密西西比州，如果父母沒有提出其他要求，嬰兒會自動隨父姓。

Louisiana babies are given their mother's last name if she isn't married within 300 days of birth.

在路易斯安那州，如果母親在孩子出生前的300天內未婚，新生兒將隨母姓。

In Florida, if parents don't sign a document agreeing to the baby's name, the court will select a name for the child.

而在佛羅里達州，如果父母未簽署確認嬰兒姓名的文件，法院將代為給孩子取名。
