1月23日，中國海警在黃巖島附近海域，搜救一艘外籍貨船遇險船員。船上一共有21名菲律賓籍船員，截至18時中國海警救起17人，其中15人生命體征穩定，另有2人不幸遇難。為獲救船員提供飲食、醫療，以及休息保障，獲救船員對中國海警豎起大拇指稱贊"Number 1"。
