Eleven、 Seven...這些數(shù)字，做英文名合適嗎？

At the heart of Netflix's "Stranger Things" is a girl with a "011" tattoo on her wrist. Her name is Jane, but she is almost always called Eleven.

Though unusual, it's not out of the question for parents to give their children "number names."

雖然聽起來有些特別，但父母給孩子起“數(shù)字名字”并非完全不可想象。

Celebrities have also used numbers as names. For example, Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian Barker welcomed a baby in 2023 and named him Rocky Thirteen Barker.

"Counting numbers" aren't generally used as names, says baby name expert Laura Wattenberg. In fact, she would group the name Sixx as a rock and roll name — like Axl, Hendrix, Crue and Zeppelin — rather than a number name.

Wattenberg says the name began rising in popularity in the 1990s when the character Seven of Nine appeared on "Star Trek: Voyager." She says, "It was the perfect intersection of celebrity and style, with the popular 'V' sound and 'N' ending — a creative take on names like Evan and Devin."

沃滕伯格指出，這個名字在 20 世紀 90 年代開始走紅，正是因為《星際迷航：航海家號》中出現(xiàn)了角色Seven of Nine。她表示：“這是名人影響力與審美潮流的一次完美交匯，這個名字既有當(dāng)時流行的V 音，又以N 音結(jié)尾，是對Evan、Devin這類名字的一種富有創(chuàng)意的變體。”

還有一個名字里帶有Seven的人物，中國學(xué)生一定不陌生。

貝克漢姆家的“小七”，英文全名是Harper Seven Beckham（哈珀·塞文·貝克漢姆）。大家熟悉的昵稱“小七”，正是來源于她的中間名Seven。

這個名字并非隨意取的，而是承載了滿滿的紀念意義。Seven不僅象征著父親貝克漢姆最具代表性的球衣號碼——7 號，還與她出生時的多個細節(jié)巧妙呼應(yīng)：出生在7 月，出生時間是7 點 55 分，出生時體重為7 磅。

但是，話說回來，像Seven / Eleven這樣的數(shù)字名，不建議作為職場的唯一正式英文名。在外貿(mào)、生意往來中，專業(yè)度和信任感會打折。在商業(yè)語境里，容易被當(dāng)成昵稱，內(nèi)部代號，甚至是客服機器人名。
外貿(mào)場景下，名字最重要的不是“好不好聽”，而是這 3 點：

2. 可記憶（但不是“太特別”）

3. 專業(yè)安全（不會引發(fā)誤解）
