On April 14, 2025, internationally renowned host and singer Prince John (Chinese name: Wang Guoquan), widely celebrated as the “Prince of Love Songs,” was honored with a New York City Certificate of Recognition by Council Member Christopher Marte, representing Manhattan’s First District, the city’s largest and most influential electoral district. This marks the third accolade Prince John has received from U.S. lawmakers, following certificates from New York State Senator hen T. Chan and NYC Council Member Susan Zhuang on April 13, recognizing his pivotal role in fostering U.S.-China cultural exchange through music and community engagement.

A Resounding Cultural Celebration

The honors stem from the triumphant U.S.-China cultural exchange event, Enchanted New York: Full Moon Brooklyn Night, headlined by Prince John on April 13 in Brooklyn. The gala, centered on classic Chinese songs, drew nearly 400 attendees, including Chinese diaspora and local New Yorkers, creating a vibrant bridge between cultures. Named after Prince John’s signature song Full Moon Blossom, the event featured soulful performances of timeless Chinese melodies like Jasmine Flower, captivating the audience with nostalgia and romance. Prince John’s charismatic hosting further elevated the evening, earning thunderous applause.

Co-hosted by the American International Culinary Association and the New York Firearms Shooting Association, the event showcased the power of cross-community collaboration. Distinguished guests included State Senator Iwen Chu, Council Member Christopher Marte, and former NYPD Deputy Inspector General Mo Hu and his wife, Sister Swallow, lending political and cultural weight to the occasion.

Triple Congressional Recognition

The event’s cultural and charitable impact prompted immediate recognition. On April 13, Senator T. Chan, representing the New York State Senate, and Council Member Susan Zhuang, representing Brooklyn’s 43rd District, presented Prince John with certificates honoring his contributions to promoting Chinese culture globally. On April 14, Council Member Christopher Marte awarded an additional certificate, commending Prince John’s performances and hosting at world-renowned venues such as the United Nations Headquarters, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Columbia University, as well as his commitment to community welfare.

Due to a scheduling conflict with another major NYC cultural event on April 14—Prince John’s final day in New York after a three-month stay—he was unable to personally receive the certificate at Marte’s office. Council Member Marte delegated his senior advisor, Steven Huang, to present the award and recorded a heartfelt video message. In it, Marte expressed gratitude for Prince John’s contributions to Manhattan’s cultural vibrancy and wished him success in future performances, underscoring the city’s support for his cultural mission.

At his February 16 Full Moon Blossom charity concert at City Hall, he performed Spanish and English songs alongside local artists, donating all proceeds to children’s education and homeless support initiatives. During the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, his impromptu performance of Full Moon Blossom for a CNN Spanish-language interview captivated global tourists.
