在湖人與火箭系列賽G1賽前，有媒體拍攝詹姆斯入場熱身時，申京從替補席站起來的畫面，有媒體將該行為誤解為申京向詹姆斯致敬。
今日被媒體問到該事件時，申京說道：“說起來有點好笑。我當時只是想從口袋里掏點東西，所以才站起來的。沒有不尊重詹姆斯的意思，但我真不是為他起立的。”
